There are many models of footbaths out there all claiming great benefits. As usual with any ‘alternative’ healing method there is a lot of conflicting information on the web about the Ionic Foot Bath treatment.

According to Dr Mary Staggs™ the principle reason for using her ionic detox foot spa is that it is a fast, effective and an inoffensive way of stimulating and balancing the bio energetic fields of the body facilitating better organ function and promoting auto detoxification. Her site states;
With Detoxification your clients will boost their immune system, sleep more soundly, enhance their digestion, increase mental alertness and energy levels, lose unwanted weight, eliminate heavy metals and toxin pollutants, increase concentration and feel healthier in general.
The Staggs machine has all the ticks for Australian compliance C-Tick, A-Tick and Electrical Safety Compliance & RCM, i believe it is a 24v system also. There is a lack of supporting information for the Dr Mary Staggs system however compared to the BBS and Aqua Chi for example. AU Mary Staggs Website link
The Hydrosana is way cheaper at $495 to $645 + shipping, is a 12v system; 5 Mode Controller (12v) ~ LCD display (CE and RoHS Certified) ~ 2002/95/EC
Both systems go on about certification a lot, but with a difference in price tag of well $2000 AUD makes you wonder how the Hydrosana is so cheap?
There are a few Systems selling and made in the US the question will be, obtaining, new arrays and service etc. Will the extra cost make it worthwhile?

Ionic Oasis system has stainless steel arrays which they state will last 120-160 sessions. [This company will not ship to Australia only do US & Canada]

How do the Ionic FootBaths Work?
Well as we are made of 70% water, the body’s fluids contain salts and are capable of conducting electricity. So when we place out feet in a Ionic footbath our body fluids are connecting with the water. The system has a two electrodes and a electrical current is passed between them, the water becomes a conductor. The electrons flow from the negative cathode to the positive anode. Our feet have reflex points that relate to various parts of the body, so you get a bio-stimulation which may restore energy and balance.

We have the Dr. Mary Staggs System and it is a superior system all round, Dr Mary Staggs is the original developer and founder of Detox Foot Spa Therapy in Europe.
Their systems are manufactured in Europe to HIGHER Standards than any of the Asian Copies to be found on the Australian Market Today.
With regards to the lack of supporting information we found the company that supplies the Mary Staggs Detox within Australia extremely helpful and supportive and the information supplied with their systems is very informative.
Has the author heard of the TGA ???? Obviously not !!!!!!!
The suppliers of the BBS etc can get away with saying what they like within the USA and on their websites. How much is true did you validate all this?
We also looked at the BBS and Aqua Chi Systems and their price tags were much higher and If we had needed help or warranty issues then these companies are based in USA and this would have caused us more headaches not to mention more money should any issues with their systems arisen. Also as a clinic we have ensure client safety so Electrical Safety was a major factor in our decision BBS and Aqua Cho DO NOT meet Australian Standards required by law.
NOTE……to the author of the above article it is a requirement that all Electrical products for sale to Australians meet the Standards for Electrical Safety for supply within Australia. We had NO problems in attaining this information from the suppliers of the Mary Staggs System and found them upfront and honest. More that we could say for the suppliers of other systems for sale in Australia, some were extremely rude when we asked certain question. No matter how many questions we had on the Mary Staggs System they were all answered promptly and politely by their staff.
SAFETY is a BIG priority for us and our clients and do not see why you the author should have a bee in your bonnet about this, to us it was a PLUS given the type of product this is.
The Staggs System as you call it,is NOT the cheapest system on the market there are a couple of other companies selling Chinese manufactured systems for much, much more and YES there are also cheaper systems on the market. We suppose it is what you can afford and we presume the HydroSana is manufactured in China which would make it much less expensive.
Why don’t you call these companies and ask why before you rubbish them in your articles ?
It is in our minds that you the author have a vested interest in the USA based systems seeing that you have provided links to all their sites, but you have not provided links to the Mary Staggs Systems or the other you mentioned in this article. There is good information on the Mary Staggs Detox Website in fact they have quite a good information section.

Hi Sandra good to see some feedback I welcome input and debate on the site, i have left the DMS link in your comment and added a link to DMS in my post. It does seem you are pushing the Staggs system very hard!
I have found the US products to be cheaper than the Mary Staggs in fact the Renovati Cleanse™ IV Detoxification Footbath System is around $950 USD plus shipping to Australia of around $200, especially currently when the AUD to USD conversion is so good.
I did not find much info about the Mary Staggs system on the AU site. I find it a little odd that there is not much info on the Web about Dr Mary Staggs and the development of the product either.
TGA of course i know of this body come on … Just because something is approved by such body does not mean the product is any better than another. Personally i found the info supplied on some of the US product sites was more informative. I will be posting a hands on review of the Mary Staggs Professional system shortly.
From my research on the other products for home use there is no issue buying these machines, i know the Aqua CHi and BBS systems have very good safety features with multiple fail safes.

We are based in Victoria and as a Practitioner we have had some great results with the Mary Staggs Detox, we are extremely happy.
In regards to your comment about pushing the Mary Staggs it was our choice to buy the Mary Staggs System for the reasons we have already explained in our previous post and although the USA Systems might be cheaper they would not meet the requirements for LEGAL Electrical Use within Australia.
We found this out to our cost when we purchased another product from the USA and found out that our Insurance Company would not cover us. They basically said that Treatment Systems/Electrical Products purchased from the USA have potential manufacturing and Electrical Safety Issues.
We also found out that some products from the USA say just to use a Travel Adapter this is ILLEGAL within Australia especially from a business point of view and our Insurance Company totally refused us cover on this Product. So that was $4000 USD down the drain and the company would not accept returns because they stated it was up to us to check this out prior to purchase.
When we called the Office of Fair Trading they told us there was nothing that they could do. We were also told that it is ILLEGAL for companies to supply Electrical Products to Australia (even if they are in USA or another country) that do not meet the requirements for Electrical Safety for supply to Australia, we found this out to our cost. They also told us that we would have to be careful in regards to buying equipment from overseas and to find Australian Suppliers is more prudent.
The Aqua Chi and BBS might have good safety features but they still CANNOT be used within Australia for business purposes LEGALLY as they DO NOT have Australian Electrical Approvals, the Mary Staggs does and this was our deciding factor. We also can get Insurance for the Mary Staggs System but NOT for the others.
The Mary Staggs is also manufactured in Europe to strict safety standards recognized by our Insurers, another deciding factor for us. Plus they deal with any warranty issues within Australia the Aqua Chi, BBS they have to be returned to the USA. Which can be very time consuming, costly and inconvenient should the need arise. You also have to buy consumables from the USA which can also be costly.
Of course it is entirely up to the individual what they want to do and how much they want to spend but if you are a Practitioner you have to consider you client’s safety and that to us is first and foremost.
We also have friends/colleagues in NSW that purchased a system from the USA and they have had nothing but problems with it, they had to return it back to the USA three times within the first year and eventually decided to buy the Mary Staggs System. They are also extremely happy with their system and the service and it was our friend’s dealings with the Mary Staggs Company that eventually lead to us buying their system.
We do not sell the systems only treatments within our clinic and are more than happy with the results we are getting, but if you are considering a system look at all the points we have made they are all valid and in our mind make good business sense.

We purchased a Body Treatment System which when supplied from the USA was 110v and we had to use a travel adapter, we then found out that this is illegal and tried to return it to no avail. Do not want to mention the product as there is still a bit of bad blood there.
My friends/colleagues purchased a Professional Detox Foot Bath from the USA they paid nearly $4400 AUD at the time, they had nothing but problems with it and eventually gave up.
We have had our Mary Staggs Detox (in fact it was my son that purchased it for me) for over 3 years now and not a problem the same with my friends they have had there just over 4 years now.
Sorry about the names of the products, but the Yanks are very fond of legal action and I do not want to go there.
